PESTICIDES IN SOYBEANS: THE POINT OF VIEW OF ENERGY EQUIVALENTS IN A MULTIVARIATE ANALYSIS

ABSTRACT: The aim of this paper was to evaluate classes of pesticides in energy equivalents (MJ ha-1) used by soybean producers in three harvests. The information collection was carried out in Boa Esperança - PR. The pesticide use inventory, cultivated area and yield of soybean crop for each farmer refer to the harvests: 2014/2015, 2015/2016 and 2016/2017. The values were converted into energy equivalents (MJ ha-1). Based on the participation of the different mechanisms of action, a conversion factor was established for the herbicide class. This attention with the class is justified by the percentage of 76.36 % of the total active ingredients applied in the soybean in the three harvests in all the producers being herbicides. In order to meet normality criteria, the data were transformed into a hyperbolic arc sine. The average consumption of the three harvests was 57.37 MJ ha-1 for adjuvants, 53.57 MJ ha-1 for fungicides, 1,186.10 MJ ha-1 for herbicides and 83.45 MJ ha-1 for insecticides. The total chemical average of the three harvests was 1380.49 MJ ha-1. Multivariate analysis of variance was performed with the Wilks test. Then discriminant analysis. The results of multivariate analysis were significant. It was verified by the discriminant analysis that the herbicide class stands out in relation to the adjuvant, fungicide and insecticide classes.
