1 RESUMO

2 ABSTRACT

A factor of extreme importance in the production of corn is the water supply, which can be accomplished by irrigation and influenced by mulching. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of irrigation and mulch on agronomic traits forage yield of corn. The experiment was conducted on the Farm of Camilo Castelo Branco University, Campus of Fernandópolis - SP. To evaluate the influence of irrigation and mulch on agronomic traits of corn, was deployed a 4 x 5 factorial experiment tracks, the main treatments consisted of four levels of water replacement by irrigation (L) as a function of crop evapotranspiration (100, 78, 74 and 45% ETc) and five levels of mulch (C) on the soil (0, 1.93, 3.83, 5.80 and 7.70 for t-1 straw), with three replications. According to the results for the cultivation of maize in the northwest region of São Paulo, it is recommended to obtain higher dry matter yields of forage with grain (23.6 t ha-1), irrigation with replacement 100% of crop evapotranspiration in no-till systems with an initial amount of straw 7.7 t ha-1. In these conditions, we expect values of plant height of 1.51m, insertion height of the first spike of 0.42 m and stems diameter of 13.0 mm.
