1 RESUMO

PROCESS CONTROL IN A CONVENTIONAL IRRIGATION SPRINKLER SYSTEM IN PALOTINA, PARANA, BRAZIL
2 ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to evaluate the uniformity of daytime and nighttime irrigation of a conventional sprinkler system using the Christiansen Uniformity Coefficient (CUC). The experiments were carried out at the Colégio Agrícola Estadual Adroaldo Augusto Colombo, a state-supported agricultural secondary school in Palotina, Parana, Brazil. During the irrigation period, four anti-drift Senninger Irrigation Xcel Wobbler® sprinklers were used at both day and nighttimes. The use of individual Shewhart control charts showed that nighttime irrigation was always controlled. It was observed that from July to September the best system performance was recorded for nighttime which was shown to be the most adequate hours for sprinkler irrigation in Palotina, Parana.
Keywords: water, wind, Christiansen coefficient, control charts.
